Ms. Jamie Becker

Jamie A. Becker is the Teacher-Librarian at Wright City High School in Wright City, Missouri. Now in her sixth year at WCHS, she continues to change and grow what the Library Learning Commons means for WCHS. Prior to coming to Wright City, she worked two years as an elementary librarian in Ferguson, Missouri. 
 Her research interests include collaboration with teachers, student choice in reading in the classroom (particularly high school aged students), genrefication of the school library, and the expanding and changing role of the school teacher-librarian, as well as how they are perceived by staff, students, and administration. She holds a Master of Education from the University of Missouri, a Master of Arts in Education from Lindenwood University, a Post-Baccalaureate in Elementary Education from Western Governors University, a Bachelor of Science from Northern Illinois University, and will be starting her Ph.D. program in Library and Information Management from Emporia State University this Fall (2022).
 She is the sponsor of WCHS Epsilon Beta, the library club for high school students, co-sponsor of Scholar Bowl, and was previously the assistant instructor for the colorguard and winterguard. 
 Ms. Becker was named an American Library Association Emerging Leader in 2020, and was sponsored by the American Association of School Librarians (AASL).
