Many times throughout your high school experience you will be asked to read and respond to various works of literature. This can often be a challenging task with fuzzy details of how to do so effectively. Thanks to teachers and educational organizations, I have compiled five sources which explain how to attack the text you are working with. Start by reading the first source which outlines how to effectively annotate your book. Then, proceed through the other four sources to gain insight into what types of things you may be annotating on such as literary devices, theme, characterization, and more and how these items shape the text.
