Actions — at the heart of AutoCAD. Actions are objects that are used by the user to control drawing commands and commands that are automatically executed when a drawing or model is opened. Scripts are programming languages that allow users to write functions or commands to perform a specific task. They are typically created by running a script within a programming environment. AutoCAD includes an extensive library of scripts, for performing the most common tasks. Scripts can also be written to execute AutoCAD commands through the.NET programming language or through Visual LISP and the VBA programming languages. AutoCAD contains special functions for creating user-defined objects. Objects are essentially controls or elements that can be placed on the screen. AutoCAD has more than 250 objects available to the user. In addition to creating custom objects, AutoCAD has the ability to edit objects. By editing an object, the object can be displayed as a block of code or script that can be reused to create other objects. In addition to custom objects, AutoCAD has the ability to create custom commands that the user can attach to buttons on the ribbon interface.
