Hello, my name is Elena Khoury and my goal for the personal project was to raise awareness about cancer and the types of cancer. Therefore, my topic is about creating an Instagram page to sell accessories for teenagers, adults and the elderly, to raise money for the King Hussein Cancer Center.

My topic is highly challenging because I have to connect my interest with accessories linking it with cancer. Each type of cancer represents a color and I will reflect that through accessories while explaining it on a paper that will be given with my product.

I will be raising awareness about personal and cultural expression, globalization and sustainability. Globalization and sustainability are related to my personal project because I am going to create cards explaining different types of cancer, and I am going to give them to my customers when they order.

But I feel that the best global context that suits my goal is personal and cultural expression because this allows people to know that their disease is being recognized. Which can help with their self-esteem encouraging personal expression. My idea could trigger people to talk about this issue and this will educate others about the topic.

I have some prior knowledge about accessories, because when I was little, I used to enjoy wearing and making accessories. I used to watch videos and I tried to create my own accessories. I wanted to make this as my personal project adding to my skills that I learnt in school. In grade 7, we created a logo and this is going to help me to create a logo for my Instagram account. In product design, we created a clock and gave it to children and this also taught me design skills. When I was in grade 8, we took a unit about color mixtures. All of these skills will help me during my project.
