The Challenger Disaster: 30 Years On

On January 28th, 1986, the Challenger Space Shuttle broke apart just minutes after launching. The seven crew members were killed, including social studies teacher Christa McAuliffe, who had won a competition to become the first teacher in space. The unprecedented disaster grounded NASA for 3 years and forever changed the face of space travel. 30 years on, as companies are once again planning to bring civilians into space, let's see what we can learn from the disaster so that these brave heroes didn't die in vain.
