📚 Reading & Phonics
Students have learned to develop oral language skills by discussing books and topics as a class. They learned to understand that print conveys meaning. Students read and wrote his/her first and last name.
They learned to understand and comprehend fictional texts by discussing the texts and talking about characters, setting, and parts of the story (using beginning, middle and end).
Students recognized the beginning and ending sounds of words, segmenting and blending words. They recognized vowels and their sounds (short and long).

📝 Writing
In Writer's Workshop we learned about "Persuasive Writing". They learned how to:
Print in manuscript.
Print first and last name.
Listen and speak in conversation.
Take turns and stay on topic in conversation.
Express ideas in complete sentences.
Express needs through direct requests.
Follow one and two step directions.
Participate in creative dramatics.
Generate a topic of interest.
Plan a writing piece orally and/or with pictures.
Write about a personal experience.
Use sounds to phonetically label/describe a picture.
Use phonics and sight word knowledge to write complete sentences.
Write left to right and top to bottom.

🔢 Math
In Math, we learned about:
Data-Students collected, organized, and represented data; and read and interpreted data in object graphs, picture graphs, and tables. The students investigated the passage of time by reading and interpreting a calendar.
Measurement and Calendar: Students compared two objects or events, using direct comparisons, according to one or more of the following attributes: length (longer, shorter), height (taller, shorter), weight (heavier, lighter), temperature (hotter, colder), volume (more, less), and time (longer, shorter).

🔬 Science/Social Studies
Plants and Animals:
Students learned that…
(K.7) Energy and matter are required for all organisms to carry out life processes. Organisms have basic needs in order to carry out those life processes. These processes vary between plants and animals.
(K.10) Systems may exhibit stability and/or change depending on the conditions. These changes can be observed and measured. Some of the changes happen quickly, while others may happen so slowly it is hard to see the changes.
