My Hobby – Cooking
               I have many hobbies. I like to travel and to read. However, my favourite hobby is cooking. Let me tell you why! First, I will tell you a little bit about how I started cooking. Next, I will give you some information about what I like to cook. Lastly, I will share how I use Youtube for cooking.
                I started cooking when I was in secondary school. We had domestic class once a week. We had to learn how to sew an apron and wear it during our cooking lesson. I remembered my no-nonsense Domestic Science teacher who teaches us all about cooking, from using the right utensils for the right type of food to different ways of cooking food like steaming, stewing, poaching, grilling, roasting, searing, sautéing, deep-frying, boiling, stir frying, baking, blanching etc. However, I was not so interested to learn cooking at that time. Now, as an adult, I discovered that cooking is an essential skill for all human beings to survive. Learning to cook will help you understand world cultures, customs and flavours. You will also learn life skills like eating healthy, budgeting your money, and cleaning. Moreover, cooking your own food is definitely more hygenic.
              During the MCO (Movement Control Order) I relearned to cook easy dishes. For example, I cooked fried eggs, hardboiled eggs, rice, but gradually I got better at making different and more complicated food. I can cook chicken porridge, fried rice, fried chicken, chicken potato, fried lemon fish, fried noodles, fried bee hoon, curry chicken, ‘Kong Pao’ chicken, ‘San Pei Chi’, peanuts soup, lotus soup, seaweed soup, ABC soup and etc. These are quite popular dishes. Noodles are my favourite food. I like best to make food in the weekends, because making special food takes time and I often have good time when I am free in the weekends.
                       When I want to try cooking a new dish, I will always refer to the Youtube for more information. Furthermore, I could watch how the cook or chef cook many types of food. For western cuisine, I like to watch Jamie Oliver the famous British born chef. My favourite Youtube channel for Chinese cuisine is "Cooking with Ah Pa". He cooks in an inspiring and professional way. From the way he cuts up the onions, meat, potatoes, vegetables, fish, chicken, garlic and many more ingredients to the way he cooks and presents his food, everything is cooked to perfection. Finally the taste of the food is simply delicious, tasty and scrumptious. 
                  So now you know what my favourite hobby is. I think cooking is a good activity because when I cook food it makes me busy and I am never bored. When you cook different food you can get a lot of information from youtube. You can also learn how to prepare healthy food to keep our bodies strong, fit and healthy. Cook healthy to stay healthy!
