It is priced on a monthly subscription basis, with a suggested retail price of $539.99 for the basic version, $859.99 for the desktop version, $1099.99 for the mobile version, and $1299.99 for the extended desktop version.
Once you purchase it, you can install it on your computer without using the CD or DVD discs. Installation can be downloaded via the internet from the Autodesk website or via Autodesk's Partner Portal.

A programming language called ObjectARX is required for the AutoCAD scripting environment. ObjectARX is based on the C++ programming language, with the addition of the AutoLISP scripting language. The ObjectARX library consists of more than 50 libraries and 7000 individual components, allowing for almost any kind of functionality.
In order to increase speed, AutoCAD was implemented in the LISP programming language, for which the editor is called ObjectARX. ObjectARX and AutoCAD use the same database for storing all drawings and drawing data.
In order to provide a C++ environment to AutoCAD customers, Autodesk released ObjectARX as open source under the BSD License in 2001.
In October 2004, ObjectARX was incorporated into the AutoCAD product. ObjectARX features
AutoCAD Architecture, AutoCAD Electrical, AutoCAD Civil 3D, AutoCAD Mechanical and AutoCAD Plant 3D AutoCAD Construction and AutoCAD Information Design.
