This article looks at the basics of using AutoCAD for drafting. There are a wide variety of Autodesk programs that share similar user interfaces and functionality, so it is important to familiarize yourself with the unique characteristics of each before starting to use the application.
This article is for the drafting user who is new to AutoCAD. It assumes basic knowledge of how to use a mouse. It also assumes you have a basic understanding of the basic drafting commands that are similar across all Autodesk applications.

What is AutoCAD?
AutoCAD is a high-end, professional-level, desktop CAD application. It is one of the most popular CAD programs in the world, and it is used by thousands of professionals and design students every day. It is available in a number of languages, including English, German, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Russian, and Spanish.
AutoCAD is available in a number of editions that share similar user interfaces and functionality. The version and edition currently on offer is AutoCAD LT 2012.

Key AutoCAD features
AutoCAD is a fairly comprehensive CAD application. The following list highlights some of the key features of AutoCAD.

Drafting
The most common way for architects, engineers, and other professionals to use AutoCAD is to make design drawings.

Most drawings created in AutoCAD are two-dimensional. These drawings contain objects, surfaces, and lines and can be transformed, scaled, or moved using the drafting commands.

One such regulation, known as Total Maximum Daily Load, limits the amount of contaminants that may be discharged by the process industry into navigable waters. Typically, wastewater treatment facilities use systems which separate contaminants from wastewater and recirculate the treated water back into the process. Such systems are subject to failure and other problems, and attempts to solve these problems have led to new developments in the wastewater treatment industry.
Accordingly, there is a continuing need for improved techniques in wastewater treatment that can be used to reduce the need for recirculation.Kern County residents have an easier time getting their water shut off. That’s because a new ordinance has been approved that decreases the number of shut-offs.
Michael Stockman is with the Kern Water Bank, which works with farmers and other water users to get the county’s water shut off to agricultural customers. In 2014, Stockman said, Kern Water Bank received 3,539 shut-off requests. This year, that number is down to just over 2,000, he said.
“It’s very, very significant,” Stockman said. “In 2014, we had over 3,500 of these notices that were placed. That’s a huge jump, and it’s great.”
Stockman said the Kern Water Bank is now working with the water district to provide water for agricultural purposes. In 2014, the water bank received about $30,000, and in 2015, that number was $25,000.
