Greetings and Talofa (Samoan for Welcome/Hello)! My name is Selaina Tuato’o and I am currently a Junior at Southern Oregon University Majoring in Criminal Justice with a minor in Military Science. This is a Digital Curation Project for my COMM 203 class and I would love to express my gratitude as I welcome you to my Ideal Beauty Standard Collection. This collection is created to emphasize the general ideal beauty standards that media and society have made as a guideline for teens and adults to follow. I will be posting pictures, articles, videos and etc. to argue on the fact that these ideal portrayals of the media do not identify or define the true definition of beauty. I love to encourage female empowerment which is my sole reason to progress in this project as I continuously research new trends and beauty hacks that media continuously opt to influence the intimacy of the younger generation. My purpose is to inform, entertain and encourage every person, not just females that are insecure or determinant about their natural beauty. I myself sometimes get that feeling but do not let the media tell you who to become and how to look. Love yourself unconditionally both inside and out. I hope you enjoy this collection!
