i ~of course~ have to start off the week talking about one of my favorite involvements at w&m—a cappella! it’s always been crazy to me that a school of our size has 13 unique a cappella groups and such a strong musical community built around them (shoutout @acappellawm). music had been such a strong part of my life in high school that i knew i wanted to keep it in my life, and that was definitely something i was looking for in my college search. i auditioned for the cleftomaniacs (@wmcleftomaniacs) my freshman year, and it was one of the best decisions i have ever made. from going on tour together over fall break to competing in local competitions (peep our first place trophy!) to our annual beach week, i have made so many incredible memories and grown so much as a musician and an individual. i look forward to every single rehearsal...it’s truly the bright spot in my week!<33 if i thought one a cappella group would be enough for me, i was wrong !!! this past fall, i joined no ceiling (@noceilingacappella), the only a cappella group on campus that competes in the ICCAs (the a cappella competition that the movie pitch perfect is based on !!). being a part of a competitive a cappella group challenged me musically and introduced me to some of the most talented, driven, and kind people i know. also, i have to promo our incredible NEW EP sleepwalking, which just dropped (you can listen now on all streaming platforms!!) 🎶🎵💜🎶🎵💜 a cappella is a huge part of my college experience and one of the things that instantly made w&m feel like home. it has allowed me to pursue my passion for music, but it has also given me the kind of supportive community and social network that i was really hoping to find at college. other students find this through their own meaningful involvements on campus—no matter what you’re interested in, i guarantee that you can find it at w&m :)) —@holly_waters

in this installment of ~i miss campus~ , i thought i’d introduce you to some of my favorite study/hang spots :) 1. the grind. a classic for all my good vibe coffee lovers!!!! the baristas are so sweet and have such good music taste. plus there’s an adorable back patio area. and it’s located at the heart of campus. pretty much good vibe city! 2. swem basement. i’m embarrassed to say that i pretty much didn’t know this existed until the end of my freshman year. now it’s my absolute favorite place to study!! in addition to having a whole set of recording studios and the reeder media center, the basement has some sick decor from an old art installation and pretty comfortable couches that i may or may not have taken a few naps on ;) 3. illy caffe. a coffee shop that just opened up in colonial williamsburg! when the weather gets warmer, i loooove taking a stroll on the weekend and setting up shop here on a saturday morning 4. ISC greenhouse. another hidden gem of campus! the greenhouse is on the roof of ISC. it isn’t open to the public, but there are occasional open houses, and you can contact the greenhouse manager about volunteering!! it’s such a beautiful and peaceful place that i 10/10 would recommend visiting. 5. the trails. much more about the journey than the destination. if you live anywhere besides old campus, you’ll become pretty well acquainted w/ the trails; i think they look prettiest in the fall! can’t wait to hit these 5 spots in person again in the fall!! — @holly_waters
