The floor here is carpeted with a dark green rug; the ceiling high; the windows overlooking the city's skyline to the west; doors opening south, east and north. A fireplace in the northwest corner provides warmth on cold days. There are bookshelves lining one wall of this room.You go through the open door into a bedroom. It is dominated by a four-poster bed: white linen sheets; heavy carved posts framing the sides and headboard; silk drapes hanging over the window. In front of the bed stands an oak wardrobe. To the right are two chairs facing each other across a table. The room has a fireplace at the northeast corner.You look out the window, and see that it overlooks a garden. You can see rows of shrubs and trees stretching away to the horizon. It is late afternoon. The sun shines brightly. Birds sing in the distance.You examine the wardrobe, but find no secret compartments. You walk around it, examining its contents as you move. There are several sets of fine clothing, shoes and jewelry, some of which appear to be quite valuable. The wardrobe also contains several weapons, and a pair of handcuffs.Inspecting the desk, you notice a letter opener sitting atop the surface. A closer inspection reveals that there is a hidden compartment beneath the drawer. This is just big enough for a note or two.A book lies on top of the desk. It appears to be a journal written by someone named Lord Rochford. The first page begins "Dear Diary..." and continues on from there.
