Development

AutoCAD uses raster images, also known as bitmap or pixel-based images, for storing its 2D drawing images. These are often called views in the AutoCAD Application, and typically represent different parts of the model being viewed.
However, in the past AutoCAD also used one or more vector-based formats for storing its data. These include vector image formats, e.g. DXF V, DWG, DGN, MDD, among others, and raster image formats, e.g. BMP, JPEG, PNG, among others.
