Find a Meaningful Song and Mark it up. Soon, you are going to be creating your own pairing of a poem and a song. So today, you need to pick your song. It must be one that has two things:
1. Some of the literary devices we talked about. Maybe it has metaphors, or repetition, or similes or a clear rhyme scheme
2. It must speak to you and connect with you. That could be the subject of the song, or the message, or some of the things that the song talks about. It must be meaningful.

Once you have picked your song, do two things:
1. Copy and paste the lyrics of the song into a Google Doc. Make sure to include the title and the artist.
2. Right on your document, you should find and label any similes, metaphors, personification, alliteration, or allusion. Find any internal or external (end) rhymes. 
Find places where there is clear repetition. Be sure you are explaining them! Think about what the message of the poem is. If you find something that you think seems like a literary device, but you are not sure what it is, come and ask us. Submit to Google Classroom. If you would like a paper copy to mark up, let us know!
A word about the song content: Some swears are ok, however a song full of the F word would not be appropriate. Also, the song may not be disrespectful to any people, groups, or be promoting violence or other dangerous behavior. We will be discussing these songs in class, so if you are not sure if it is appropriate for class, it most likely is not!
