Esri Chief Scientist Participation in #BlackinMarineScienceWeek
Similar to online events such as #BlackinNature, #BlackinNeuro, #BlackinChem, #BlackBirdersWeek, #BlackBotanistsWeek, #BlackinGeoscienceWeek, and so many more, a fantastic group of early-career scientists and their allies organized and coordinated #BlackInMarineScienceWeek,” November 29-December 5, 2020. The goal was to promote representation, to celebrate and amplify the incredible work of Black people in marine science at all stages of their careers, and to showcase the breadth of opportunities that exist in marine science. This was especially to inspire students to consider marine science as a career and to retain rising scientists in the field. The event encouraged participation not only from academic marine scientists and students, but from administrators, industry professionals, entrepreneurs, citizen/community scientists, and nature enthusiasts.
