Digital Citizenship

“Digital citizenship is the practice of defining the norms of appropriate, responsible behavior with regard to technology use” (Dotterer, Hedged and Parker, 2016, p.59). There are many facets to online learning such as cyberbullying, digital footprint and internet safety that are integral to being a good online citizen. The importance of these topics has been magnified by the necessity of online learning brought on by schools closing due to COVID 19. It is especially important that we prepare students how to interact online because they will increasingly interact in online spaces. As educators we must prepare our students to interact online in much the same way as parents prepare children to interact at a restaurant or with adults. This Wakelet contains resources for teachers, parents, and kids to help create positive digital citizens. Dotterer, G., Hedged, A., & Parker,H.(2016). Fostering digital citizenship in the classroom.
