As we tackled urban poverty issues with Ka Joey, the community representative of Brgy. Malanday in Marikina, teenage pregnancy was one issue that he stressed. He recalls a moment when the number of teenage pregnancies increased in their community, their organization knew they had to do something even with the limited resources available. 
They conducted seminars where they invited soon-to-be parents and encouraged them to reflect on their actions. They are asked the questions, “Ano ang kahalagahan ng maagang pagbubuntis?” (“What is the relevance of early pregnancy?”), “Masaya ba kayo sa kalagayan niyo ngayon?” (“Are you happy with your current situation?”), and “Ano ang magiging kahihinatnan ng iyong maagang pagbubuntis?” (“What do you think will be the result of your early pregnancy?”). They also have basic prenatal care for pregnant women in their barangay health center. These services may include basic check-up with a health worker on matters involving the mother and the baby’s health. 
Ka Joey believes that one of the contributors to early pregnancy is due to negative influence among peers and curiosity. Teenagers are likely to be influenced by their peers to do vices such as smoking and drinking. These acts allow them to decide on acts unconsciously, one of which leads to teenage pregnancy. Yet even though these falling-into-temptations put teenagers in a role they are not ready for, they refuse to abort these newborn children because they believe that life is precious.
