Lewis Carroll:
The author’s real name was Charles Dodgson. However, anyone who linked his last name, Dodgson with the Alice in Wonderland books, he publicly denied any connections. 
He was born on 27 January 1832 and is the eldest of three of sons and had seven other sisters. He was very close and protective over his siblings and as a child he clearly loved to entertain his siblings with his stories. 
At first he was home schooled by his father after moving to Yorkshire, but at the age of twelve he was sent to a boarding school which specialised in sports, specifically rugby. However, due to many illnesses and his shyness, led to his experience being miserable and unenjoyable. A few years later, he finally got a 1st class degree in maths and went onto teaching mathematics but his classes were known to be boring. Moreover, he was known to suffer many illnesses including; insomnia, was partially deaf in one ear, suffered form a stutter and was very thin as he was obsessed with his intake of food and only ate one meal a day. 
Finally, some of his hobbies included; read his stories to children, he was a mathematician, clergyman, photographer, writer of books, a poet, an inventor. In addition, he was also a Curator in a Christian church, and finally he was very fond of theatre and opera.

Kate Prince:
Kate Prince is an artistic director of Zoonation, The Kate Prince company in which she founded in 2002. She is also an associate artist at The Old Vic theatre and at Sadler’s Wells. Prince was born in Southampton and began dancing aged four, learning ballet, tap and modern locally. She later studied general arts at the University of Edinburgh. 
She has been nominated for three Oliver awards, a South Bank Sky Arts award, a WhatOnStage award and two Critics’ Circle National Dance Awards. Kate is a graduate of the University of Edinburgh with an MA in General Arts and has an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Winchester. In 2017, ZooNation: The Kate Prince Company became an Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation for 2018-22. Kate was awarded an MBE for services to dance in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list, 2019.
Why have I researched this?
This research will give me better knowledge of the author behind the play and what influenced him to write the play and the characters within it. This is very important for my piece as I am playing the role of Lewis Carroll within my performance and how he created each character. It is known that he himself suffered with many different mental illnesses and this could've been one of the reasons the characters each suffer from illnesses themselves. For example, he had an eating disorder in which he was obsessed with the intake of food he ate and limited himself to only one meal a day. Therefore, this could have influenced him to create the character of Alice with body dysmorphia to show what he suffers with. In addition, I have also added more context about Katy Prince and the performance she did for the theme of the Mad Hatter's tea party
