Big Picture for the sequences of learning:

WWII lasted 6 years (1 September 1939 – 2 September 1945). Children are able to make connections with what similarities and differences there is with then and now. 
This means children are able to make more connections with their local surrounding and see how some of their families may have lived, meaning they will appreciate ore of what their ancestors have done for them. 
There is also close links to locality for children to see and experiences (if a Plymouth based school). 
 With the use of artifacts to represent things as their enquiry, children will be able to explore and understand what life was life during WWII and what things might have looked like. Things from WWII are still being found today.
