Black History and Music
For Black History Month, one of the read aloud shared with the K-2 classes was This Jazz Man by Karen Ehrhardt.  It highlights several jazz musicians that includes Fats Domino.  Its a great book for Pre-K - 2 with notes about each musicians at the end of the book.  Below is a lesson plan and a YouTude reading of the book. 
Also a YouTube reading of Ella Fitzgerald by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara was presented to the  ASP students.  This book is part of a wonderful series titled Little People BIG DREAMS.  The music teachers who read this book shared it with his high school students.  Check out the YouTube read aloud of this book along with a couple activities sheets.
