Structure of Atom

The word "atom" comes from the Greek "atomos", meaning uncuttable or indivisible. An atom is the smallest particle of an element that retains the chemical properties of that element. Everything on our earth is made from 96 stable and 12 unstable elements. Each element has a different atomic structure. The basic structure of an atom involves a nucleus and the orbiting electrons. Atoms are made up of three particles: protons, neutrons, and electrons.
