Disturbing 20th Century British History

'The United Kingdom, is one of the few countries in the European Union that does not need to bury its 20th century history' - Dr Liam Fox, now Secretary of State for International Trade after Brexit vote. Inspired by this blinkered reading of recent history I have collected some of the more disturbing British-related events from the 20th century and today. It isn't exhaustive. It is uncomfortable reading. Yes, Britain has done things to be proud of. But Britain has also done much that should horrify us.  If we are to truly learn from our history then we must also genuinely recognise the great ill that we have also done instead of indulging in unquestioning self-glorification.
