Indeed, questions are important in teaching-learning process. This is because of the following reasons:
It strengthens the learning process- Students learn by asking questions. When this habit is developed, it would be easier for the teacher to connect with his students and create a bond that fosters a stronger sense of participation. This then engages the student and take more active role in the learning process.
It grabs the attention of the students- It is undeniably true that when a teachers  delivers good questions to his students, the students will most probably pay attention to the teacher speaking. And when this happens, students will be more open to learning because what the teacher is saying interest them.
It lights up the curiosity of the learners- Questions builds up the students curiosity. When a student is curious, he/she tends to have the drive to discover what his/her mind craves to know. This then becomes a way that leads the students to learning and new discovery which could help him/her grow and gain more knowledge.
It broadens the minds of the learners- Questions broadens the minds of the learners. It opens them to new possibility and discovery. What they will learn to the questions that is being thrown to them makes them open their minds to other perspectives and will stimulate personal growth that is essential to their lives.
It helps the teacher know the capabilities of his students- Asking questions is not just for students to learn but it is also one way for the teachers to know and evaluate how deep his/her students learn from the discussion. Asking questions helps the teacher know his/her students' capabilities, strengths and weaknesses. This way, the teacher will be knowledgeable enough to build strategies that could drive the learning process to a fruitful outcome.
