Realising the need to address the challenges faced by both chimpanzees and local communities, she founded the Takari program, which involves the participation of local communities in sustainable initiatives and has had positive impacts on their lives and forest conservation.

As Dr. Goodall travelled the world to raise awareness and support for conservation efforts, she also became aware of the harm inflicted by humans on the planet. She notes the increasing awareness of environmental problems but expresses concern that many people feel helpless or apathetic in the face of such challenges.

Dr. Goodall also emphasises the importance of unity and action, particularly among young people, who hold the potential to make a difference. She highlights the Roots & Shoots program, which encourages youth to take action and make positive changes in their communities. Through this program, young people are empowered to address environmental and social issues, fostering respect for different cultures and promoting sustainable practices.

In the end she calls for a harmonious integration of intellect and compassion, emphasising the need to make conscious choices in our daily lives that minimise our ecological footprint. She discusses the impact of our food choices, highlighting the environmental and ethical consequences of factory farming and encouraging a shift towards plant-based diets.
