Is Voluntourism a good thing?

When it comes to going to remote and poor countries in service, we often think that Voluntourism is good and harmless, but is it really? Many people believe that voluntourism is just an act of hospitality and kindness and others believe it has a more iniquitous background, involving and perpetuating neocolonialism.
