Task two or objective number two
This is often addressed by a combination of acquisition and chunking tasks of between 15 - 20 minutes to allow for the hippocampus to take on and process the information. I keep my contextualised teacher talk to a minimum and break it up by eliciting responses for my students through the use of the conversation/ chat box, Microsoft forms in the form of polls, raise the hand feature and of course unmuting for a verbal response. Importantly, because my students have been given the opportunity to build a relationship with their peers, they are often confident to respond in our learning space. Do all you can to reinforce this. Learning is more successful when students have no fear of failure. 
Another purpose of objective number two is to further reinforce the fundamentals students were requested to address before the session. Bringing back the flipped content and building on it. Here, not only am I able to access whether they have done their homework but also whether they have acquired the deeper concept that I am trying to get across to them. 
Once teacher talk and probing is done I generally send them off to an environment where they can collaborate and contribute. If I'm honest, they appear to love this more in the virtual world than in the classroom. I am going to suggest a couple of safeguarding protocols here. 
Consider elements such as group dynamics or pre-existing relationships, I generally record each breakout room (well actually I instruct one member of each group to activate the recording), set up the right kind of work to bring the best out of each person, use tools that allow you to observe their work in real time and lastly be sure to teach them how to get your attention via the conversation/ chat option using the @ tag. 
We are a Microsoft college, so whilst I can use tools such as OneNote or even Microsoft Word, they and I really enjoy using a Google tool called Jamboard. Who doesn't like having a nosey at what other groups are up to?
The session reconvenes in our main room when the time has lapsed. Students will feed back to the group and at the same time I tend to mark their group work and provide feed back on screen using my Wacom pen.
