Following the fall of the Soviet Union and the end of the Cold War, America became the world's superpower. As a superpower, some countries and groups around the world despised American influence and power. This was made clear when the terrorist group, Al Qaeda attacked the United States on 9/11/2001. This event forever changed the United States domestic and foreign policies.
