In 2016, when using the software, we wanted to improve the robot's 'alignment and coordination'. As a result, we used the robot's own built-in kinematic structure in order to identify the rotation axes and angle parameters.
Finally, the software was integrated into the operating system of the robot.
2.4. Operation mode {#sec2.4}

For most of the work shown in this paper, the UG robot was operated using a collaborative navigation mode. This mode relies on the position information provided by the camera system and the reference position indicated by the operator. During the execution of this navigation mode, the robot can automatically change the course of its path. During operation, a number of tasks can be performed, ranging from surveying areas to microscale assembly ([Fig. 7](#fig7){ref-type="fig"}). The robot allows the operator to control the movement of the robot and determine its direction using a configuration interface. The robot can also work autonomously with a self-contained control system. The robot was used as a manipulator for microscale assembly tasks and as a scanner for area exploration tasks ([Fig. 8](#fig8){ref-type="fig"}). With these two purposes in mind, the robot was moved along a specific path and the most suitable rotation angle was set for the robot's axis of rotation.Fig. 7Overview of the robotics system. 2.5. Determination of the robot's rotation axis {#sec2.5}

The values of the five parameters were determined using the robot's built-in kinematic structure. In this paper, the author performed a test to determine the axis of rotation. The test was carried out on an overhead crane with a square shape and a length of 500 mm. [Fig. 9](#fig9){ref-type="fig"} shows the manipulator that was used in the test. The test consisted of a direct movement from a starting point to an ending point, at a controlled speed. The central axis was set as the axis of rotation.
