Government 
There are four levels to Japan's Government; the Emperor, the Diet, the Cabinet, and the Judiciary. 
The Emperor is the symbol of Japan. The emperor is the head of the state but has no political powers, he does the jobs such as greeting foreign dignitaries or attending public events. 
The Diet is composed of two houses, the House of Representative and the House of Councilors. Both houses are the law-makers for the state. The House of Representatives consists of 480 members and each serve four years. The House of Councilors consists of 242 members and each serve 6 years, with half of them elected every 3 years. The Diet begins their 150 day session in January every year. 
The Cabinet consists of the Prime Minister and 17 other ministers of the State. Each Cabinet Officer and and the other 11 ministries are established by the Establishment Laws. 
All of the Judiciary power is vested in he Supreme Court. There are also four inferior courts that are: the High Court, District Court, the Family Court and the Summary Court. Which are approved by the Cabinet. Justices of the Supreme Court, beside the Chief Justice who is elected by the Emperor, are appointed by the Cabinet as well.
