Dr. Sharon Mistretta
@DrSharonMistrettaDr. Sharon Mistretta holds a Doctor of Education degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Education with a concentration in Technology Integration in K - 16 Education. Her dissertation centers on Understanding Gender-Based Attitudes in STEM Environments. As Adjunct Faculty at Johns Hopkins University School of Education, she teaches Technologies and Creative Learning and Trends, Principles, and Practices of 21st Century Learning. Sharon is a Senior Instructor for the U.S. Satellite Endeavor STEM Teacher Education Program, a NASA education partner, concentrating on Coding, Robotics, and 1:1 Devices (CRD) and Advanced CRD. She received her M.A. in Computing in Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and has over forty years of experience in Information Technology. With extensive programming and systems analysis experience, Dr. Mistretta brings an in-depth knowledge of programming techniques and the integration of creative technology methods and platforms into her teaching practices in Pre-K through graduate curricula. She is at the forefront of implementing universal design for learning (UDL) tenets into lesson plans. As an instructor in STEM enrichment programs, Dr. Mistretta teaches programming to fourth through twelfth-grade students using Robot Virtual Worlds, Vex IQ ClawBot, Lego EV3, Finch, and Ozobot robots.
