The best thing about my job is that I get to meet all sorts of customers every single day, deal with all different kinds of tree-related problems, and play a part in making outdoor spaces safer and more beautiful. Looking after trees isn't just my career; it's my passion. That's because healthy trees really do bring enormous benefits to people's homes, businesses, parks and our environment. I strongly believe that every tree deserves the care it needs to thrive, and every customer deserves clear advice and friendly service. When I first became manager of Nottingham Tree Surgeons, my objective was really straightforward. I wanted to create a tree care company that people could depend on; a company where every customer felt totally confident calling us. Trees can be hazardous or unwell at times, and it's easy for people not to know where to turn. It's my responsibility to remove the stress and difficulty. I genuinely enjoy chatting with customers, understanding what their concerns are, and helping them make the best choice for their trees. We would never try and persuade our customers to pay for anything they don’t actually require. In fact, you can always rely on us for open and honest explanations from the very start. At Nottingham Tree Surgeons, we work with all kinds of trees. Sometimes our customers need to have a tree pruned back because it’s become too big or intrusive. In other instances, they may have a dangerous tree that requires removal before it could cause any harm. We can also assist with hedge trimming, stump removal, tree pruning, crown reduction, crown lifting, deadwood removal, and emergency tree work following severe weather such as high winds or storms. No two jobs are ever the same, but we approach each one with the same dedication to detail. Whether it’s a small tree in someone’s back garden or a large, old tree close to a building, we work with utmost caution and skill. Customer satisfaction what I enjoy most If I could pinpoint one single moment that brings me the most joy, it’s seeing a happy, reassured expression on a customer’s face after we've finished the job. Customers can often be anxious or stressed about a tree that is potentially unsafe for months or even years. Being able to remove that worry for them is incredibly satisfying. Similarly, some customers want to achieve that neat, tidy garden feel again, and seeing their delight makes me appreciate why I do what I do. The Value of Good Customer Service I am a firm believer that excellent customer service is just as crucial as being skilled in tree work. For example, clear communication is essential. Many customers are calling us for the first time and may not understand technical terms such as 'crown reduction' or know the reasons behind specific tree pruning tasks. I always aim to explain what we're doing and why, using easy-to-understand language that everyone can grasp. Customers should never feel in the dark when engaging any service professional. Giving honest answers builds that trust we all want to rely on; that is why we have so many returning customers.
