Async/await and Sequence Diagram
I was going through the Servicestack documentation for the working of Async/Await mechanism and tried to understand the sequence diagram for an API.
I tried to replicate this diagram using one of my APIs with a same structure as API in the above image. I got all the fields using a List  and when I tried to convert to the List> I got a compile error. Can someone please explain why this is happening? Is it because we cannot create a type like List>?

A:
the await keyword doesnt know how to do anything with a List,
or a List>, or List> etc,
it only knows how to do something with a Task, which is what you are returning from the PostAsync method and await is waiting on.
using await is very much like using Task.WhenAny because you are awaiting on the result of another async method which returns a Task.
another great thing about this is that if any of those methods throw an exception (or another Task) it gets rethrown and you get the exception as a Result
