There are a lot of image editors out there, but if you’re looking for one that’s both versatile and easy to use, then you might want to check out PixFi Image Editor. The software makes it a breeze to create images in a variety of ways, and it’s quite affordable too.
How does it work?
You start off by loading a directory, and then pick your choice of overlaying and adding filters. At the moment, the application only lets you choose a single graphic filter, with 16 different overlays, and 3 different output formats to save things under, including BMP, PNG, and JPEG.
Free filter effects
As you’d expect from PixFi, there are a few free extra filters you can use as you wish. However, their number of effects is small, they don’t include compositing, and more importantly, you can’t share your creations.
Simple, yet powerful
You’re right in thinking that PixFi is simple to use, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s easy to understand. Editing your graphics is pretty simple, and has intuitive click-and-drag guides. You don’t need to make a lot of choices from an abundance of options, which is ideal for a more advanced user. However, no matter the complexity of your choices, the application keeps detailed notes on each one.
The output formats section does not come with any sort of preview feature, but you can always test what you’ve done. Thankfully, it seems that PixFi will preserve the original color when it saves under a BMP format. What’s more, there are no color management issues, and the application looks great after it’s run its course.
Things to look out for
However, what’s a bit disappointing is the lack of layer controls, which you can only adjust for individual files. Aside from that, the application is fairly easy to use, and boasts many useful features that would make it a useful tool for various tasks.
It might not have all the features you need, but as it stands, PixFi Image Editor is a simple, yet powerful piece of software. It does its job well, and its price is right for the money. If you’re looking for a fast and easy graphics editor, then this may be the one for you.

I very rarely have time to get out of the office. When I do, it is usually either to go up the mountain or get away from the office. This is why the cloud matters. This past weekend, my wife was running a demo up on the mountain for a customer. The demo went well and so did my wife’s trip up the mountain. The demo was to help them better understand what is possible with the cloud.
On my way down the mountain a brief stop at StackPointCloud (SPC) for an hour or so, this was my first time using the cloud service and I wanted to get a better understanding. SPC is the cloud service that powers the Maps “Where’s My Lyft” mobile application. Once the demo was over and it was time to be on my way, I wanted to do one last thing to check out SPC before I left. You see, SPC has a web control that lets you build any web applications using their REST API.
I had them build a simple application that would pull all my contacts from our Active Directory and display them on a table. This all worked great and was straight forward to build. What I then did was I pulled up one of my personal domains and tested to see if my simple application would actually work. I found it did, but it didn’t show my contacts. After a few hours of troubleshooting SPC, I found out why. SPC was pulling from our Active Directory and then wrapping that into SOAP or REST API calls for me. What that means is that Active Directory is not currently in an SPC schema, which is pretty easy to check by looking at the User Accounts page in Active Directory. Since Active Directory is not SPC, this simple application will not work. I sent them an email that afternoon and asked about the process.
Today, I got a very simple update that they fixed the issue. I have tested the application now and it will retrieve my contacts from Active Directory. It would be really awesome if you guys could star this article so others
