**Create a New Color Project**
Photoshop Elements enables you to create new color projects without having to rescan your image. All you have to do is open the file and use the new Project palette. You can't add project tabs or rearrange the tabs that are already there. You'll see how this works on your first project.
  1. **Open the File** : From the File menu, select Open. Then choose the file or folder where you want to store the project.
  2. **Select a Color Project** : Your file opens in the new Project palette. In the _Project Types_ group, there are four projects: Baseline, Color, Grayscale, and Transparency. In addition, there is the recently added Photo Collage.
If you used the Photo Collage project, then the new project can't be opened. You need to reopen the file.

Step 1: Import Files
To start editing your file in Photoshop Elements, you'll need to import all of your files. Open up Photoshop Elements and from the File menu, select File > Import to open the Import dialog box.
The first screen you'll see will be the Open dialog box.
To import your file, navigate to the folder it's located in. If you don't know the path, you can type the folder's location in the Open dialog box. To do so, click and drag your file out of its folder and drop it directly into the dialog box.
Once your file is in the open dialog box, you'll see four buttons on the screen: Cancel, Open, Save and Apply.
Choose Save or Save As, and you'll be presented with the Save As dialog box.
Again, it is important to know the location of your video. You can type this in the dialog box.
Next, click on the Folder radio button and choose your new location.
Once you've selected the folder, click on Open.
Now you're ready to start editing your files.
Step 2: Create a new file in Photoshop Elements
To create a new file, select File > New. The New dialog box will open.
To make your new file, just use the "What would you like to create?" box, type in the name of your new file, and click on the Open button.
Step 3: Merge Files
If you've created more than one file from one video, you may want to combine them into one Photoshop file.
To merge all of your files into one image, from File, select File > Combine Images to open the Combine Image dialog box.
You'll see that your files are already organized into a list. Just select the files you want to combine and click OK.
To add a new file to the list, select File > Add. Then, click on the New button again and name your new file.
