Metochites on Chora
The Chora monastery was originally founded either in the 6th or 11th centuries and it was renovated by the statesman Theodore Metochites. who endowed the church with exceptional mosaics and frescos. Metochites speaks about his deed in his poems which have been recently translated into English by Jeffrey Michael Featherstone.
