Of course more to say about this meeting, but some positive outcomes. In essence: Urban public transport (UPT) is a basic service, enabling mobility and other rights. Thus is should be accessible to all and bolstered by decent work. For this governments should and have much to gain from policy and financial support to UPT systems to ensure continuation and expansion of jobs and services as an essential report of recovery from the pandemic and climate action. Inclusive processes of formalisation and just transition, with informal workers and their organisations included at the core and assessments of the impact of international (development) finance are key. All workers (including platform workers) must be guaranteed fundamental principles and rights at work, and new regulation developed for the control of data and algorithm transparency.
