The November cover of Scientific American grabbed my attention as their recent issue focused on Confronting Misinformation. I am attaching a PDF of the related articles I was able to scan. The first one, "Truth Activism" by Joan Donovan explores the roots of online protest movements and the new role of critical thinking as activism and the new "data economy", the original intentions of social media and its development into personalized information ecosystems, and some of the unexpected results of the speedy evolution of the Internet as a news source, such as "politicians and regulatory bodies" who "failed to treat the Internet as a place where real damage could occur" (Donovan 37).

The following article, "Power Play," by Jen Schwartz reports on a live simulation game intended to prep journalists to fight disinformation.
