Going through this year I feel like getting the opportunity to be a part of social media management, and having a hands on role with that has given me more confidence as a writer, and photographer. When I was given the role of people editor this past year I thought my involvement would be with stories only, however social media has opened up the door for new ways to be involved with featuring people and having that outreach to our community. I have been able to push my comfort zones and learn how to be involved with sports as well. While sports coverage has never been my forte, I feel like through social media I have learned the importance of it, and have grown a love for it along the way. Through my time with a hands on social media role this year I have learned how to properly engage viewers, from graphics, to picking pictures, to even a catching caption. All three of these tie heavily into one another which was a social media highlight this year. My confidence around the social media realm has grown exponentially this year, and I have loved how much closer it has gotten me to my school community.
