Using PC-KIMMO:
You must have a suitable text editor available, and a PC-compatible
computer running Linux if you wish to use the program in its intended
environment.
Installation:
The tarball file can be used to install PC-KIMMO on PC computers,
Linux-compatible computers, or the Linux 64-bit IBM-compatible
workstations.
For the PC type, type "./install -i" or "./install_pc.sh". For the
Linux 64-bit platform type "./install_pc.sh".
On PC and Linux, the program will be installed into the directory
"/usr/local/lmike". You may edit this location to your own preference.
The AIX compiler environment has a different location to that of Linux
and PC. If you want to install PC-KIMMO to a different location please
adapt the commands.
To uninstall:
On Linux type "./uninstall.sh"
On PC type "./uninstall -i"

PC-KIMMO is a word generator that works on both the lexical and the surface levels of word representation. It uses a network of regular expressions and special words to build up phonetic and phonological word forms. By extending the second level production rules with additional parameters, it makes no assumptions about the distribution of phonetic and phonological constituents in a word.
The program is based on the idea that a word can be decomposed into elements that are either phonemes, phonetic parts or parts of a phonological structure.

It can build up word structures of any length.
It can build up word structures of any surface level.
It can build up word structures of any lexical level.
It uses a network of lexicon-dependent lexicon-independent regular expressions and special words to build up word structures.
It can create any number of special words (words that function as extra productions rules).
It can create any number of regular expressions and word parameters.
It can create any number of phonetic and phonological elements (elements in the structure of a word).
It can create any number of phonetic and phonological rules (rules that structure the word).
It can create any number of non-word productions (elements that do not have a part of speech form).
It can create any number of transitional productions (elements that do not have a part of speech form).
It can create any number of words parameters.
It uses a natural language parser which is based on a modified version of the famous Warriner-Lee algorithm. The algorithm allows for true context dependency in word production and recognition. PC-KIMMO is able to create word structures of any length using phonetic and phonological word structures.
