Macon-Bibb Commission 7/16/24

In the wake of a recent cyber attack that crippled Macon-Bibb County's communications and computers, the County Commission tightened security and increased internet stability at its meetings Tuesday. A rather lengthy agenda included funding emergency roof repairs at the Macon Coliseum and Wilson Convention Center, hiring a firm to assess the condition of roads needing repair, funding sidewalks on Hollingsworth Road, adopting the budget for the Department of Economic and Community Developments and its block grants, purchasing pumps to close the landfill, funding the Family Counseling Center and Macon Violence Prevention Program, adopting the EMA's Emergency Operations Plan, joining the Kroger Opioid Settlement, resurfacing tennis courts, accepting grants for Juvenile Court and the Middle Georgia Regional Airport, renewing the Macon Bacon's lease at Luther Williams Field, accepting an unsolicited proposal for a $23 million upgrade to Lake Tobesofkee that will require soliciting other bids first, making board appointments and honoring leaders in the community. Here are highlights from social media posts sent during the meetings.
