In June 1990 Autodesk developed a software package, which integrated vector graphics tools, AutoCAD, and other office applications. This package was named Microsoft Office System and was bundled with the Microsoft Windows 3.0 operating system.
The starting price for Autodesk AutoCAD on a personal computer in 1982 was $995. Early versions of AutoCAD were written for the original version of DOS, later versions were also compatible with Windows, which released in 1985. In August 1995 Autodesk released AutoCAD LT, a scaled-down version of AutoCAD. This version lacked the capability to edit layers, zoom in, or copy and paste blocks. AutoCAD LT lacked full support for 3-D in either drafting or presentation. It also lacked built-in support for inserting 3-D blocks.
Autodesk released AutoCAD for the Mac in June 1997, followed by a similar version for Windows in August 1997. This was Autodesk’s first release of a software application for a non-Windows platform and came out ahead of its closest competitor, Metroworks.
Another change at Autodesk came in June 1998, when the company acquired Alias Systems Corporation, a Mac software developer and manufacturer. Autodesk purchased the Alias business as an operating division, not a software developer

AutoCAD supports various international languages, both the language and its script, including English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese (simplified and traditional), Czech, Danish, Finnish, Greek, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Slovenian, Turkish, Ukrainian, Vietnamese, Thai, and Simplified Chinese. When the user starts AutoCAD on a Windows machine, the English text input method is used by default. However, the text input method is controlled by the "Default Input Language" under the Regional Settings, which can be modified to use the international and Japanese text input methods.
