Become a Global Changemaker

This collection highlights ways that I inspire my students to become global changemakers. My students and I live on an island in Southeast Alaska. I do not let our remote and isolated location prevent us from learning about the world. We connect with other students around the world using tools such as Skype and Flipgrid. My students love to share about our place and learn about other communities and cultures around the world. Through read aloud, students not only learn about other communities and cultures, but their awareness and empathy towards important global issues increases. At the end of the fifth grade year, every students writes and delivers a persuasive speech. This is an opportunity for them to showcase their passion for making the world a better place and amplify their voice.
