The difficulty posed by defining innovation wormed its way through the entire search. I thought I was already innovating in my class, and our school. Takes on a different meaning when you consider system scale. What is innovation: Doing different? New? Doing the best practices that achieve consistent improvement in results? Whose definition of results? Hattie's (http://www.amazon.com/Visible-Learning-Synthesis-Meta-Analyses-Achievement/dp/0415476186)? How do you measure innovation? What does it look like?

What it is depends, it seems, on who you talk to/ read.

I'm going with innovation as “denying existing conditions, or changing the existing order of things, or values or systems” (Hamson & Holder, 2002, p.10) for the Guide.
