Krista is an oil on canvas work of art by Pablo Baen Santos in 1984. The social realist masterpiece is exhibited in the Ateneo Art Gallery. Krista depicts “Inang Bayan” gagged with a crown of barbed wire stirring the name Krista “Female Christ”. It greatly embraces and radiates a strong sense of nationalism, censorship with the influence of Catholicism.

The Philippine flag and protesting bodies create the backdrop as Krista is painted holding her clenched fist as a symbol of boldness and defiance. The mastery work, Krista, subjectively depicts oppression towards our motherland and its children, patriotism, and bravery. The gag represents the persecution of human rights and desecration of our country, the sea of cadaver and masses depicts violence and bravery, the Philippine flag shows nationalism and love for our country, and lastly the holding of the clenched fist as a sign of defiance towards the oppressor.
