Creating drawings with AutoCAD
AutoCAD is a powerful application that can be used to create drawings and designs of almost any scale and complexity. A drawing created with AutoCAD can be used to produce a 2D or 3D model, which can then be used for a wide variety of applications, including 3D printing, sheet metal fabrication, and prototyping.
To create a new drawing in AutoCAD, click the New button in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen and select the desired drawing type.
AutoCAD is available in two versions: AutoCAD LT and AutoCAD Professional. The differences between the two versions are that AutoCAD LT lacks the advanced features of AutoCAD Professional, including 2D drafting, 3D modeling, and 2D editing.
1. Creating a Drawing in AutoCAD
The creation of a new drawing begins by clicking the New button. The Create Drawing dialog box opens, as shown in the following figure.
