Macon-Bibb Commission 4-18-23

American Rescue Plan Act funds could enable the Macon-Bibb County Commission to convince the Macon Bibb Transit Authority to hold the line on its fares through June of 2024. Commissioners approved up to $375,000 to be used under a pending agreement with the authority not to proceed with its planned fare hike. Commissioners also allocated a half-million dollars of ARPA funds to Depaul USA for the operation of a new homeless medical respite being built as part of Central City Apartments on Walnut Street. Tuesday night's agenda also included public safety spending, an amendment in the policies and procedures manual to allow the county to be reimbursed for equipment willfully damaged or taken by employees, and a planned memorial in memory of golf pro Jim Hickman, who died last June.
