Because of Brexit British exports in Ireland drop by 1 billion euros less in January, according to new data. Trade between Ireland and England also dropped by a whopping 41% around the same time. Imports are no better as they drop by an estimated 75% as well. Specifically the import of live animals and food dropped by 75%.  With new regulations and rules hindering the flow of imports Britain struggles to cope with the situation. Harsher times in the pandemic can also be to blame for this catastrophe. The lockdown and other factors have definitely landed a hit to the problem as well. The republic of Ireland heavily relied on the exports like cereal, sugar, and milled flour while exporting large amounts of dairy products such as cheese and milk. The stockpiling of goods was also to blame for the downfall according to CSO senior statistician Orla McCarthy.
