AutoCAD vs. AutoCAD LT is a common misunderstanding between AutoCAD users. AutoCAD LT is not the same software as AutoCAD. AutoCAD LT is the student version of AutoCAD and does not have all the features of the full version of AutoCAD. For example, AutoCAD LT does not include most of the advanced features of AutoCAD. These features include the ability to generate and view parametric surfaces, to connect to other files, to use multiple project files, to incorporate engineering drawing files, and to draw curves, splines, and arcs. AutoCAD LT has limited ability to draw 2D vector and raster images. It cannot create 2D blueprint drawings, and it cannot easily model solar photovoltaic systems.
AutoCAD LT runs on the Microsoft Windows platform, on Windows 98 and later, Windows 2000 and later, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8.0, and on the Apple Macintosh platform, and on Mac OS X.
