AGM Business and Annual Review

The Cross Party Group on Towns meeting was welcomed by Gillian Martin MSP, deputy convenor of the CPG.

Gillian began by conducting AGM business for the group. Members agreed that John Scott MSP would be re-appointed as the CPG's convenor, Gillian Martin MSP and Neil Bibby MSP as deputy convenors, and Scotland's Towns Partnership as secretariat.

Thanks were given to each of the MSPs involved in convening the group for their support and dedication to the towns policy agenda over the previous year.

Phil Prentice, Chief Officer of Scotland's Towns Partnership then gave a brief overview of the CPG's progress and achievements over the last twelve months.

Key activities of the group have included organising quarterly meetings on key topics for towns, the Small and Rural Towns Parliamentary Reception in March 2019, and running a successful MSP Town Connector Programme over the 2019 summer recess, with several dozen MSPs signing up to take part in visits to local towns.
