To get started with Photoshop or Elements, you need to download or buy and install the software on your PC. (For detailed instructions on how to get started with the program, see Creating and Manipulating a New Layer.)

To install Photoshop Elements:
In the upper right corner of the screen on the desktop computer, click on the folder icon and select ‘Show My Computer’. Or in a Finder window, hold down the Option (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows) keys and click on “Go to Folder”.

Open the “Elements” folder
Wait for Photoshop Elements to finish installing
On the computer, open the newly installed folder

You can open the Photoshop Elements application from the computer if you have downloaded the program and saved it in the corresponding folder.
When you launch the Photoshop Elements application, you will see the opening screen as follows:
After clicking on the ‘Elements’ folder icon, you will see the following screen:
You can now access all the options available in the program and select the features you wish to use, as well as any other features.
Using the Photoshop Elements Editor
To use the Photoshop Elements editor, open the ‘Elements’ folder that you have just installed, as shown in the previous section, then click on the image that you want to edit.
The new screen will display the image:
For editing the image, you will have many tools to choose from. These tools are used to retouch, crop, resize, and adjust and enhance the image.
Click on the tools tab to see the controls that you can use.
Basic Image Editing
The tools tab has 10 icons that allow you to edit the image:
Fill Effects – This tool allows you to fill out the background and erase the edges of the image.
Colorize – This tool allows you to apply different types of colors on the image. You can also adjust the brightness, contrast, saturation, and hue of the image.

Levels – This tool allows you to adjust the brightness, contrast, and shadows of the image. You can also add, adjust, or erase light and shadows from the image.
